Cheers! I've been (gently) told off for always ending the chapters on cliffhangers, but I can't see many places where I could leave it and it wouldn't be a cliffhanger - the whole damn story seems to be (unintentionally) built on the things! So I'm glad you like.

Mmm - interesting point about the contrasting description...You know, I've never thought about it, or noticed it when I was writing. Suppose it's a natural byproduct of writing tight third POV with characters whose thoughts and feelings about each other are so conflicted, but I'll be thinking about it now! ;)
